Head of School: Karen Locke

Parent Governor and Chair of Governors: Martha James

Martha joined as a Director Appointed Governor in May 2019. Her twins are currently in Orchard Class. Martha is a Director of an IT Managed Service Provider based in Oxford and previously worked in Marketing for a leading UK brand and in the publishing industry.  

Parent Governor: Lee Atherton

Lee Atherton joined as a parent governor in September 2017.  He sits on both the safeguarding and Finance committees. He currently has 2 children, one at Hornton in year 6 and one at The Warriner in year 8. Lee has run his own business as an Advertising and Commercial photographer for over 20 years. In his spare time he enjoys playing Tennis, surfing and DIY.

Director Appointed Governor and Vice Chair of Governors: Chris King

Chris King, joined as a Director appointed Governor in October 2017 and was appointed co-chair of the HPS Governors in September 2018. He has 2 daughters currently at the school, one in Oak Class and one in Willow Class. Chris is a business improvement manager and currently sits on both the curriculum and data committee and the Finance and Personnel Committee.

Director Appointed Governor: Antionette Powell

Antoinette Powell joined as a director appointed governor in June 2017. She moved to Hornton in July 2016 having worked as a teacher and within the charity sector in London. Antoinette currently works as a communications consultant specialising in international development. She is a member of the curriculum and data committee and the appointed governor for safeguarding. 

Director Appointed Governor: Duncan Raper

Duncan has been a Governor at Hornton Primary School since 2004 and was Chair for 6 years until 2015; he is currently Chair of Finance and Personnel. Duncan is also a Governor at The Warriner School and has been Chair of Governors since October 2015. He has 2 daughters, both attended Hornton Primary School and the youngest is currently in the Warriner 6th Form. Duncan is a Chartered Accountant who has worked in Industry for over 30 years.

Duncan was also part of the steering group that ultimately formed the Warriner MAT. He is a Director and The Chair of the Board of Directors and as such is also a Member of the Warriner MAT.

Director Appointed Governor: Laura Short

Laura has lived in Hornton for 20 years and has two children, both of whom came through Peach Tree Pre-school, Hornton School and are now at the Warriner School.  She previously worked in the computer hardware and logistics industry. Laura has worked within in the Early Years unit at Hornton Primary School since 2006, becoming Peach Tree Pre-School’s Treasurer and Charity Trustee. Laura is currently a full time TA at the school and the administrator for Peach Tree pre-school. Laura has a keen interest in all aspects of Outdoor Learning and is Hornton’s Forest School Leader. 

Director Appointed Governor: Andrew Overton

Andrew Overton joined the LGB in June 2019 and has lived in Hornton for 9 years. He has been a Governor at Royal Docks school in Newham since 2012 and is presently Vice chair there and is Chair of Governors at Burnt Mill Academy in Harlow, but was keen to support Hornton Primary School. He is Link governor for Pupil Premium students and will support the school in any way he can.

Director Appointed Governor: Tom Hill

Tom joined as a Governor in May 2019. His eldest daughter is in Oak class and his youngest is in Peach Tree. Tom has worked in Corporate Communications for 10 years and currently leads on internal communications for a global Financial Services organisation. Away from work Tom loves spending time with his young family, and playing cricket.

Parent Governor: Rhiannon Entwistle

Rhiannon joined as parent governor in January 2020. Her son is in Orchard Class and her daughter is in Peachtree.  Rhiannon previously worked as a primary school teacher for 16 years, in England and Hong Kong. She is now working for a family support charity called Home-Start, supporting families in crisis. Rhiannon loves the spending time outdoors with her young family. 

Staff Governor: Sarah Wright

Sarah Wright joined as staff governor in February 2020. She has worked in education for 25 years and has been in her current role as a TA at Hornton Primary School for the last 5 years. Previous to this, Sarah held roles in Early Years settings including Peach Tree Pre School . Sarah is also a past pupil of the school as well as having two children who also attended. Her daughter is currently taking her GCSEs at the Warriner school .
